Grove Farm Raiders 6 v Bedworth Eagles 1
10/09/06
We haven't lost to the Eagles before but only yesterday we thought we would only have 9 men for the first game due to injuries, holidays and generally struggling for players. We did manage to field 11 players due to a couple of last minute signings but still unsure how the team would perform with several new players.
Straight from the kick off the Raiders took immediate control of the game. Eagles didn't really get into gear and the Raiders started banging in the goals.By half time Raiders were 3 nil up, ( 2 goals were scored by a new player William Marshall ) and in the second half the Eagles had a lucky break and managed to put a goal past our "new" goal keeper Andy Taylor. The defence were strengthened by a newly signed Tom Diskin who defended fantasticly as did the whole of the team. The final score was 6 - 1 to the Raiders, a fantastic start to the season WELL DONE!
Goal scorers were - Jordan 1, Daniel 1, Joshua 1, Matthew l 1
William 2
GROVE FARM RAIDERS 4 V ATTLEBOROUGH HURRICANES 1
17/09/06
A fantastic start to the season, beating Attleborough Hurricanes 4 - 1 in a game where it could have been easily 10 - 1 with so many shots just wide of target. The lads are really now playing as a unit with fantastic communication all the way through the match. All the weeks of hard training seem to be paying off.
GROVE FARM RAIDERS 1 V WHITESTONE SPORTS TIGERS 4
24/09/06
A dissapointing loss today for the Raiders against Whitestone Tigers. The Tigers were off with a lightening start today leaving the Raiders standing. As the game settled down the teams seemed evenly matched. Early on Tigers scored with one of their forwards out pacing our defence. Both teams were having chances until Tigers found the net again before half time. After half time some changes were made in defence and man marking and we seemed to be slightly out playing them with slightly more posession. We had a penalty which went wide of the mark but had more shots on goal after that. Ryan Green from Raiders scored which lifted morale. Unfortunately Tigers scored 2 more goals in the second half with the final score of 4 - 1 to the Tigers. Reflecting on the game, the goals from the Tigers were first class, Raiders goaly Andrew didnt really stand a chance. Raiders seemed to have more shots on goal but some going wide or straight to the keeper. The game didnt really reflect the score as the game play was even. Maybe it will be a different story on the return game ?
WESTFIELD SPARTANS 2 V GROVE FARM RAIDERS 7
Westfield Spartans suffered a heavy loss last week and I know that they've been struggling for players. After speaking to their manager, he informed me that last weekend he had picked up some good little players so I didn't know how the game was going to go. The game started and the Raiders took control of the game scoring 2 goals and the Spartans managed to get one back before half time. In the second half Spartans looked to be more threatening and I feared they were going to level the scoring but Raiders put another couple of goals in and Spartans managed to get another excellent shot past Andy our goal keeper. The final score was Raiders 7 - Spartans 2 Goal scorers were William 3 Steven 2 Josh 1 and Daniel 1 . Well done to all the team!
WHITESTONE SPORTS BULLDOGS 0 V GROVE FARM RAIDERS 5
Whitestone Bulldogs are a new team to the league and I didnt really know what to expect, but as I arrived to the match I realised most of the players were from the old Grove Farm Rhinos from 2 seasons ago. We never did beat the Rhinos so I presumed it was going to be a difficult game. In the first 20 mins it seemed to be an even game and I was thinking its anybodys for the taking but the Raiders took advantage and we scored the 1st. A second went in before half time and the lads were really up for it. In the second half Bulldogs seemed to drop their heads a little and Raiders again took advantage of the situation putting away another 3 goals. Some of the passing was fantastic with sometimes 10 passes before a shot on goal. It was a difficult call for man of the match but it was given to Matthew for his constant persistance in running up and down the left wing. Well Done! Goal scorers Jordan 1, Matthew 1, Daniel 1 and Joshua 2
GROVE FARM RAIDERS 2 V BULKINGTON SPORTS BULLDOGS 2
15/10/06
It was always going to be a difficult game playing Bulkington Sports Bulldogs who are sitting at the top of the division, but up until half time the score was 0 - 0 and it could have gone either way. A good team talk at half time didnt seem to do the trick. Bulldogs came out and scored 2 comfortable goals and the Raiders looked shell shocked. Raiders didnt give up, 10 mins before the end Raiders scored and then with 5 mins remaining scored another to equalize. Raiders seemed to be the better side now but unfotunately the final whistle blew 2 - 2.
Goal scorers for Raiders were Ryan 1 and Daniel 1
Man of the match went to Gary for an excellent performance from start to finish.
Grove Farm Raiders 2 v Haunchwood Pumas 2
12/11/06
It was always going to be a close game as both Pumas and Raiders are on simular points and both fighting for second place. There wasnt much between the game although Pumas put the first goal in but Raiders followed it up by Rhys Woolley scoring the equaliser. In the second half Pumas went back in front with another goal but shortly after Rhys put in his second goal of the match to equalise and finish with a 2-2 draw. The last 10 minutes of the game Raiders seemed to be the stronger team but both team managers agreed that a draw was a fair result considering a fantastic performance from both sides.

( Apologies for the late entry ED)
We were thinking we were going to have an easy game against the Hurricanes as the first time around we beat them fairly easily. After speaking to their manager before kick off he informed me he had a new team to the one that played us first time around I wondered if it was going to be as easy as I first thought. The first half I thought the Raiders were slightly the better side although no goals were scored and some of our play seemed a bit 'hit and miss' At half time we had a good chat with the lads and they seemed all up for the challenge and we knew what to do but as we kicked off we were put to shame as Hurricanes raised the tempo and Raiders were struggling. Hurricanes managed to score 2 goals and Raiders never really tested their goaly. I beleived we could have played better but on the day Hurricanes were the better side. We seemed to stuggle in defence and we didnt do anything with the balls going forward. Man of the match was given to Andy Taylor (The goal keeper) Ryan Green and Daniel Holmes were doing a good job down the right hand side and did have a couple of good shots on goal and Jordan Boffin giving 150% effort on the left.
Re-arranged game against Burbage Old Boys
For the first 20 mins Raiders had control of the game and looked as though they were going to give Burbage a run for their money. Burbage were the first to score and it seemed to give them a boost of confidence. by half time raiders were 3 nil down but went into the second half determined and a good all round performance. Daniel Holmes managed to pull 1 goal back and burbage went on to score another 2 with a final score of 5 - 1 to Burbage. Raiders never gave in all game, there were outstanding performances from all the lads and the opposition parents commended the manager for the determination and good game of football the Raiders displayed. Andy Taylor had man of the match for quality goal keeping and constant
communiction to the back four.

Bulkington Bulldogs are above us in the league so it was going to be a tough battle. I didnt really think there was much between the two teams in the first half, both sides having a few shots on goal. A penalty was given to Bulkington which went wide of the goal and at half time the score was 0 - 0. In the second half the Bulldogs broke through our defence and managed to get a goal in and towrds the end of the game Raiders seemed to be running out of steam. In the last couple of minutes Bulkington scored their second with a final score of 2 - 0 to Bulkington Bulldogs. Ryan Green got man of the match for an excellent performance.
